ICYMI: Nancy Pelosi, Simon Rosenberg, and others on turning vibes into votes

At COURIER’s Vibes to Votes: The Final Sprint event in Washington, DC on Tuesday, September 24th, we had a great evening about how we can turn the energy around this election into action.

If you missed the event, you can watch the full recording of the entire program — or enjoy some of these highlights:

Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi started us off in a keynote conversation with COURIER founder and publisher Tara McGowan.

They talked about how sometimes you have to take a punch and sometimes you have to throw a punch… for the children, of course

Speaker Emerita Pelosi made her pitch to young voters ahead of the election and also reminded us all that she “knows her job” – and knows what to expect from Republicans when it comes to protecting reproductive rights.

Tiffany Muller, President of End Citizens United, shared new toplines from polling about the far-right plan to take over the federal government, Project 2025. You can read some of the polling here.

We also heard from experts on polling and political strategy Simon Rosenberg and Tom Bonier about the state of the race, moderated by Maria Cardona.

Simon and Tom reminded us that riding the pollercoaster will always come with highs and lows, and Simon shared insights into how and why polling sometimes underestimates young people, but we shouldn’t count them out.

And later in the evening, a group of savvy digital media experts discussed how we can reach “normies” in today’s decentralized media environment, moderated by Shaniqua McClendon of Crooked Media.

This included Emily Amick, of @emilyinyourphone, explaining how she connects with her audience of women – and what you need to know about “the exhausted majority.”

Faiz Shakir, founder of More Perfect Union, unpacked how Democrats can think about tapping into the economic anger of working-class Americans

And Brad Bauman, Co-Founder of White Dudes for Harris, described how many men in this country are surrounded by messaging from the far-right that they have to turn their backs on democracy.
