Courier is Expanding Its Footprint to 20 States in 2026
February 11, 2026 – Today, COURIER Newsroom, one of the fastest-growing independent news media networks and one of the largest news brands on TikTok in the United States, announced the launch of nine additional newsrooms in California, Colorado, Georgia, Kentucky, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, and Utah. This expansion will add to the company’s network, which already consists of 11 state-based newsrooms and a national bureau.
Over the past year, the media network has grown rapidly, organically doubling its total owned audience network-wide from 4 million to 9 million followers and subscribers in 2025 alone. By the end of 2026, COURIER will be operating local newsrooms in 20 states. COURIER is expanding at a moment when the media industry is shrinking and credibility is eroding, by focusing on social-first political journalism that reaches people where they already are online. This move is a key step in COURIER’s mission to establish values-driven newsrooms in all 50 states.
“We are on a mission to reach and engage the millions of Americans left behind by traditional media with news and information that puts power back into their hands. In the face of relentless attacks on our constitutional rights, COURIER is proud to recommit to our mission by doubling our in-state footprint as one of the fastest-growing independent media networks that refuses to capitulate to this anti-truth and corrupt administration,” said Tara McGowan, CEO and Publisher of COURIER. “By expanding to 20 states this year, COURIER will be better positioned to deliver the news and analysis communities need to show up, be heard, and ensure accountability is served.”
“Every day, our award-winning reporters, editors, and social teams tell the stories shaping people’s lives—from Medicaid cuts and ICE raids to education battles. Our teams are invested in the places they call home, and because they lead with clarity and respect, they’ve built deep trust with audiences who invest right back through engagement, support, and real-world action,” said Mariela Rosario, COURIER’s Managing Director, State. “This expansion is a vote of confidence in those communities and in the teams powering this work. As local news disappears in too many places, we’re proving independent, values-driven journalism can grow without sacrificing credibility and we’re thrilled to be doubling our footprint this year.”
By expanding its local network, COURIER aims to grow a fearless, values-driven news ecosystem in media markets around the country, while elevating political journalism rooted in accessibility, transparency, and impact. COURIER’s explosive growth reflects the rising demand for values-driven storytelling.
