Submit an Op-Ed to COURIER
We are always looking for elected officials, candidates, activists, and other thought leaders to write thought-provoking op-eds about the challenges and opportunities that American democracy is facing.
Specifically, we are looking to amplify diverse, pro-democracy voices on topics like:
-
Threats to our rights and freedoms
-
Threats to our democracy
-
The stakes of the 2024 election
-
The forces at play in 2024 and beyond
-
The consequences of MAGA extremism
And here are a few tips on what we’re looking for from an op-ed:
Things we like:
- Concise and focused pieces between 500 and 1,200 words
- Relevant and timely content
- A clear, structured argument or main point
- A unique perspective
- An eye toward explaining how this specific argument has broader national implications
Things we don’t like:
- Lack of structure or focus
- Overly broad content (i.e. discussing lots of different issues)
- Niche content (i.e. focusing solely on one piece of legislation or a hyperlocal issue)
- Self-promotional pieces
- Intentionally inflammatory, libelous, or discriminatory language
To submit an op-ed, email a 250-word pitch or draft of a submission to lucy@couriernewsroom.com with OP-ED PITCH in the subject line. We aim to get back to all pitches received within 7-10 days.
